Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded, resized and re-encoded by your own browser. They never leave your device, so the tool also works for private documents and receipts.
Which format should I choose?
JPEG for photos, WebP for the smallest files on the web, PNG when you need sharp edges, text or transparency. PNG ignores the quality setting because it is lossless.
What quality setting is best?
About 75–85% looks the same as the original for most photos at a fraction of the size. Go lower for thumbnails; use 90%+ for images with fine text.
Why is the result sometimes not smaller?
An image that is already well compressed, or saving a small graphic as JPEG, can come out larger. Try WebP, a lower quality, or a smaller maximum width.
